Alexandria Mercantile Fills City Needs

Written by  Mar 21, 2018

This is what happens when a community comes together. The City of Alexandria, led by Mayor Ron Richardson, Economic Development Director Warren Brown and so many others, identified significant needs and filled them.

One concern was the need of a grocery in the downtown area. Horner’s Mid-Town Market filled the void left by the closing of Cox Supermarket on Harrison Street. With their outstanding Butcher’s Block meat counter, Horner’s doesn’t just fill the need, they exceed the need with over 40 years of meat-cutting experience.

Another feature of the project is the Mercantile Apartments. An affordable housing community, the Mercantile Apartments combine a modern build-out with a century old feel. Cox Supermarket memorabilia is featured in the lobby and commons area, yet each unit is uniquely designed around the structure of the building itself.

The Alexandria Mercantile is the culmination of a City dreaming their dream and seeing it through for the good of all of Madison County.
