IDEA

Stepping Up to Bigger Profits

Our big IDEA is to offer you, the business owner, manager, or entrepreneur, an unbelievably valuable package of best practices and business education to help you grow your company. The program is the result of the collaborative efforts of the Madison County Chamber (MCC), the Flagship Enterprise Center (FEC), and the Corporation for Economic Development (CED).

The foundation of this program is the IDEA Academy, a year long program that will help you identify and address issues that are holding your business back. Upon completion of the year long program, participants will receive a certificate from the Anderson University School of Adult Learning and the IDEA partners.

What is the IDEA Academy?

best practice business support initiative, the IDEA Academy is designed to identify and work with a multitude of business issues, processes, and resources. The program was developed by experienced business executive and mentor DeWayne Landwehr, Executive Director of IDEA and the Flagship Enterprise Center. The program is based on a successful business support program that DeWayne and FEC have used for several years with their clients. DeWayne will lead many of the programs and will facilitate lectures and discussions with subject-matter experts in some areas.

How will it work?

A baseline will be established for your company’s revenue, profit, jobs and payroll through a survey completed by you before the first workshop. Over the course of the year, you will attend Academy classes and learn how to identify and access business tools and resources to help you focus on improving areas of need and growing your business.

Early in the program you will begin developing an Action Plan that will focus on the issues that require your attention for your company to reach your goals. The plan will be created by you, in consultation with the facilitator, by performing your own guided self-assessment. It will contain deliverables and milestones and time constraints that you can measure along the way to track and measure your progress.

You will also participate in the IDEA Exchange, executive roundtables where you will network and exchange ideas with other business owners who are handling the same challenges you face every day.

The knowledge gained through the classes and roundtables will assist you with assignments given at each monthly session. Toward the end of the year, you will complete the survey again to evaluate changes that have been made and how much the health of your business has improved.

Is this right for me?

If you’re ready to analyze your business and take it to the next level, yes. The IDEA Academy has been developed from a lifetime of experience and exposure to some very good concepts and business practices from a lot of experts in various fields. This is not a “get rich quick” scheme with a “silver bullet” you can use to instantly increase your profits. You must be fully engaged to reap the benefits of the program for yourself and your business. The practices have been put together into a comprehensive, interactive program that has the potential to be a catalyst for improving the bottom line of your business ... and the community.
