KYLE Thank you, Marcy.
MAR Kyle, is it time yet?
KYLE Uh, no. Not just yet.
But we have a vision for the future of Madison County, don’t we Marcy? It is upbeat. It is joyful. It is filled with hard work, thought leadership, and proactive communication. We are preaching the good word of commerce.
MAR Amen!
KYLE First, we take our joyful noise regionally to the business clusters surrounding us with an extensive public affairs campaign. Next, we position Madison County as a great place to work, live, and play. You live and work here, right Marcy?
MAR Yes, mostly play though.
KYLE Right. Then we continue to link up Madison County and its leaders to improve the circulation of the almighty dollar.
MAR (sing) Money, money, money
KYLE The end result? More positive impressions. improved programs. Regional and local networking. More buzz. More business. More commerce. In other words, it will be One Happy Day!
(> “Happy Day” sung by Joshua’s Vision to begin immediately when Kyle says One Happy Day)
MAR Wow. That was good. But is it time yet?
KYLE No. Be patient, my friend. But let’s praise a few people deserving the honor.
MAR First, we would like to award a company that has been serving in our community for 50 years.
KYLE That’s right. The Nardco Sheet Metal Company was founded by Dave and Romona Sylvester in April 1961. By 1968 the company had expanded to include heating and air conditioning sales and service and incorporated in 1969 to become Nardco Heating and Air Conditioning Inc.
MAR Now owned and operated by Dave and Romona’s daughter and son-in-law Jim and Connie Millikan, Nardco continues to serve both the residential and light commercial heating and air conditioning needs of Anderson and surrounding communities, including a branch office in Noblesville to serve Hamilton and Marion Counties. Nardco proudly continues to operate under the same principles of honesty and fairness it was founded on 50 years ago.
KYLE Accepting the award for 50 years of service in Madison County, Jim and Connie Millikan.

KYLE Inspired and created by the work of J.J. Bailey and a few other teachers at Anderson High School, On May 1, 1935, the Madison County Indiana School Employees Federal Credit Union was officially chartered with, get this Marcy, 14 members and a total of $45.50 in deposits. Over the years MCFCU has grown and merged with other credit unions, adding groups and locations and expanding services to meet the needs of the community.
MAR Most recently MCFCU launched their Business Services Department and added Investment Services to their offerings. Today Madison County Federal Credit Union has 11,000 members and $60 million in assets and continues to operate with the same focus on customer service that J.J. Bailey began.
KYLE Accepting the award for 75 years in business, please welcome the President of the Madison County Federal Credit Union, David Dodd.

KYLE Surbaugh & Son was founded by Will Surbaugh in 1910, and his son George joined the business in 1948. George’s son Bill joined the business in 1972 and continues to own and operate it as a small company, just the way he likes it.
MAR Throughout the company’s history the Surbaugh’s have committed themselves to their community, serving on community service and non-profit boards, real estate professional associations, school-related committees, religious organizations, and Rotary Club. Bill focuses on commercial, residential, industrial and agricultural real estate as well as managing market-rate rentals. Some notable projects for the company include the Scatterfield Road property where Lowe’s sits, buildings at the Flagship Enterprise Center park, a Remy building, and the former Guide Plant 6.
KYLE Accepting the award for 100 years in business, please welcome Bill Surbaugh.

KYLE It’s more than just attending a ribbon cutting, isn’t it Marcy? More than just brainstorming events in a committee, or representing the mission of the chamber in the community. It’s about positioning Madison County through professional relationships. We call them Brand builders. Buzz makers. Champion connectors. They are 30 plus business professionals who serve as our Ambassadors Regional. And one has stood out among the rest. She has climbed the corporate ladder of success and now offers her services, talents and skills to this community; even to the point of driving the chamber president, me, around on sales calls. Thanks to her dedication, the Get Linked Expo was regionally well represented.
In the words of an inspired English band -- the Spice Girls -- “tell me what you want, what you really, really, want...” We want leadership, commitment, and inspiration. Thus, we introduce to you the 2010 Ambassador of the Year Award recipient, Purdue University’s very own Barb Alder.
(Marcy to give award, Barb to speak for 60 seconds)
MAR Please welcome back to the podium, Mike Latchaw.
MIKE (come back on stage) Thanks, Marcy. It is my distinct pleasure to begin a new tradition for our Chamber this year “The Chairman Award”. This award will be presented annually by the Board Chair to a Chamber Board member that has distinguished themselves while serving.
During my tenure on the Board and while serving as Board Chair the last 2 years, all present and past Board members have been willing to give of their time and serve, but one person comes to mind as the ultimate Board member. They have been willing to participate in our meetings, give advice when asked, provided leadership and professional opinions when needed. This person has served as an outstanding Board member and Board Chair and I consider it an honor to present this first annual “Chairman Award” for 2010 to “Mr. Mike Austin”.
(Mike to give award, Austin to speak for 60 seconds)
MAR Is it time yet?
KYLE Not yet, Marcy. Be patient. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Keith Trent, VP and chief foundation officer of Community Hospital Anderson and good friend to the late Keith Pitcher.
TRENT (Keith Pitcher Character in Business Award)
(Trent to give award to Keith Pitcher’s family)
MAR Kyle, you know I have been very patient up to now.
KYLE Yes, you have, surprising for a board chair.
MAR So I ask you, is it time yet?
KYLE Yes, Marcy. It is finally that time. The moment you have been waiting for. Roll the film!
(> play Gaither Teaser Video)
KYLE Please welcome Bill and Gloria Gaither, tonight’s key note speakers.
(Bill and Gloria speech)
